Simplified version of the great Indian Marriage

Simplified version of the great Indian Marriage
[Who could have possibly believed when a close friend calls you up and tells you that it's her marriage tomorrow? I have to call her again to get it confirmed - but suddenly everything seems to fall in place - the health concerns that their families have been tracking etc. After all she has been enganged for a while and the marriage is just around the corner. ]

And suddenly it happened. Not knowing what was in store I was dialling the numbers in my missed call list. It was Vasudha and she said " Hey naalaikku en marriage,6-45... 7 to 9.. vanthidu.". After a few questions I got the situation and the reality, I was not able to spend the rest of my time sleeping neither did shaik. I woke up the next morning at around 3:30 got ready and rocking at around 6 and we fled to Ambattur. Everything was in place for the perfect mariage. Vasu's father greeted me, and I woke up to the reality. I wasn't able to spot the bride though.

After the generic structures, it was time for the Kasi Yaathirai, and bridegroom walked way out to the streets. Ah! there she was, in the first glimpse we hid our faces and in the second glance we were able to open up our pupil to the colors of the scene. She along with that famous gang walked out to the ceremony. Several Handicams, cameras opened up and thus began the mood of the hour. Bommi was taken of her feet to stand up to her 6 feet hubby and there were hurraahs and oo's from the veteran college porikkis.

That was the single scene that we were able to witness in full panaromic view, right in her very own street. In a few minutes the marriage happended as we all think it should happen- in three glorious knots of maangalyam. Thus started a new episode in the lives of the couple and the people surrounding them including me. But that is not all, there were so many more to follow, including the grahapravesam on the whole stretching out to about 4 hours.

Alls well ends well, I was discussing a few corporate issues with Akila and Bala inbetween. Bala was giving us great company all the way, and he finally decided it is too long a wait and decided to start.I was starting to lose my patience in the long wait and finally or rather suddenly came to a stop. So I had enought time to spare to offer hand shakes to the bride and the bride groom. I would be such a forgetful person to miss out the progithar character who was churning out some mokka jokes. He asked the couple to ride two laps around the homam. Similar thing goes for the Convent Aunt - who was talking about personal glories et al.

It had all the right ingredients in the perfect mix. With everything in its own right place, I wished her well and started. We were completely tired and had some rest on the way in the office of Karthik, after a few yawns we started to our rightful places. What an experience, What a ride !
