Well, here it is to Naadi Josiyam. Real records are very very rare, think about the odds but that doesn't stop juggernaut from rolling on.
1. How many letters are there in your name
2. Are you a christian, are you a muslim, is your name a hindu god's name
3. What is your first letter
4. What is your birth star
5. Have you loved anybody
6. Are you 27, 26, 28 , 29?
same applies to your mom, dad and siblings
Then based on your planetary positions he goes old skool and predicts your portfolio. Voila, the most hyped naadi josiyam. From here on everything else are calculations and combinations, he collects more than enough information and goes back to his shell to write self composed tamil poems which are just recitals in old Tamil with common stuff, trust me. I also find a few loan words from Sanskrit which came along recently in Tamil usage.

Dude.. thats not true...atleast from my experience
When I went, all I gave was my thumb print, and the place wher I came from.. (bcos u dont have to give out t name, and they refer u by the place u came from)
then when they called me, they had roughly 70 leaflets, and they start reading out various combinations.. all u have to say is yes or no... and then finally they narrowed down on my leaflet.. and everything including my name, my parents name, etc etc was right... too hard to believe, but it looked true.. I also saw that writings on t palm leaf.. i know many cheat using this, but there are very few places, where it is true.. the main center is Vaitheeswaran temple, and there is a center in Tambaram, which is recognized by them.
I do agree, they try to get information from you.. like which industry u work etc.. but thats only after they've located ur leaf... and of course, i was very cautious on what i said etc...
dude believe me, I went to this Tambaram place, the practitioner did not tell anything more than what I said and predictions from my jaathagam
There were very few predictions and if they turn out to be true, I'd tell you. Until then I won't believe this.
ok.. which place did u go to in Tambaram?
agasthiar naadi josiyam, west tambaram
@ Jagdish: is naveen's place same as urs?
I hv not had any experience with nadi joshiyam but my great grand father was a sort of joshiyar himself. from wat i heard from my grandpa, his father ( who was a lawyer by profession , was also a naadi vaithiyar and had good knowledge of ayurveda and astrology) would predict future of all his kids. Like in which field they will shine, and how many kids they shall have etc by reading the planets.
The best part of his ability was , he accurately predicted his death! Accurately.. upto the correct hour. Combining his planetary positions and his pulse, he predicted his death nearly an year in advance, n he passed away on the exact day, on the exact time!
The only reason y i dont praise him is that he never bothered to pass on the knowledge to anyone.. Wat a waste of talent, if u r too arrogant to teach and share it. if only he had taught someone.. if not his children, atleast to his grandchildren, we will not be so lost about this art. :/
this joshiyam stuff is true..it predicts "only" possibilities of various options available to an individual. A trained mind and talented person can put in proper value for the "variables" in prediction and get his desired result. From wat i have seen, Wise ppl use joshiyam as a tool to minimise effort to get maximum result.. not depend on it as if its a veda vaaku..
